Modern food retail contributes to poor health outcomes. How might we help people treat food as medicine and make daily grocery choices that promote long-term health?
I led the user-centered design process and defined the business model. I worked in a two-person stealth startup team, collaborating closely on strategy and execution.
We followed a strict Double Diamond process, grounded in longevity and nutrition research. This included extensive secondary and expert-led discovery. User interviews focused on health behaviors were done. Iterative concept testing with early adopters was critical. Validation sessions with healthcare professionals was key.
As a startup, we had limited budget for research. We overcame this by leveraging our personal networks to access nutritionists, doctors, and health-conscious users.
We designed a first-of-its-kind grocery experience to enable users to shop based on health goals and personalized longevity markers. We created a new information architecture tailored for health-based grocery browsing. Early foundations of an AI engine that connects biomarkers to foods was defined.
Concept testing showed strong product-market fit. Users expressed willingness to switch from existing apps. Healthcare professionals endorsed the value proposition. We attracted interest from multiple investors for pilot partnerships.
